66% increase in the number of donations via DobroMail.ru
05.03.2020
200,578 donations were made to charity via this service last year totalling 76.4 million roubles.
The DobroMail.ru service helps people to engage in charity projects, allowing them quickly to find organisations operating in different cities and select those in need of financial support or volunteer help.
In 2019, the volume of automatic payments rose by 66%, with the number of regular donations going up 2.5 times. The level of assistance to the elderly increased 1.8 times, with a 5% rise in the number of people helping adults. The number of requests submitted via the Mayakservice from people looking for reputable charities went up by 21%.
“2019 was not an easy year for Russian charities. A fall in personal incomes resulted in people turning increasingly to charities for help and was accompanied by a slowing down in the number of donations being made to them. At the same time, the cost of foreign drugs went up, with some of them disappearing from the market to be replaced by generics. We therefore tried being more proactive in our support by creating new ways of fundraising in order to attract business partners”, said Alexandra Babkina, Director of Social Projects at the DobroMail group.
Last year, DobroMail stopped taking commission from people who make donations with a bank card. Bank commission fees and payment systems were covered by the non-credit body Money.Mail.ru.
In addition, DobroMail’s internal fund service, the Code of Good, began work last year to which legal entities are able to make donations. So far, it has collected around one million roubles.
