Archangelsk schools for children with disabilities

The
governor of Archangelsk region, Igor Orlov, has expressed support for
establishing such schools, which would offer a general education, in the
region. He made this announcement at a round table on accessible education for
children with limited capabilities due to impaired health that took place in
school no 5. Nikolai Myakshin, chair of the Association of Communal
Organisations for People with Disabilities in the Archangelsk region considered
that it should be possible to obtain the resources for establishing a network
of schools from the federal ‘accessible environment’ programme. These resources
might be applied to creating a universally accessible environment in
educational institutions and to obtaining equipment and transport. The
participants in the round table hoped that by 2013 some more municipal schools
accessible for children with disabilities would be available in the region.
