Under a new bill, which is likely to be discussed in the Duma next week, foreign agents will have to open a special account in the Russian Federation.
Speaking on his Telegram channel, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chair of the State Duma, said that a bill was currently being drafted to introduce a legislative ban on payments to foreign agents for copyright and other related rights.
Volodin stated that the bill’s authors are proposing to tighten the rules over copyright and intellectual property rights payments to foreign agents by forcing them to use special rouble accounts for the revenue accrued. The rules would cover all income generated from intellectual activity and brands. They would not be allowed to receive money in any other way.
