Figures on the number of Uzbek people in need of care released

Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Social Protection has released figures on the number of people in need of care in the country.

 

From 1 October last year to 31 July this, 4,647 people in need of help were placed on the care register and 6,287 removed from the list.

 

7,939 elderly and 2,306 disabled people living on their own, and 4,703 elderly and 2,340 disabled people living on their own use social and domestic services respectively, making a total of 17,288 as of August this year.

 

Staff at the Inson Social Services Centre, social workers, members of a special monitoring group of the district medical association and chair of a citizens’ assembly monitor service quality and the outcomes of individual social services’ plans.

 

Monitoring has shown that the level of people’s need for outside help has decreased and their health improved as a result of the services provided.
