09.08.2019
Oxford University’s Sayeed Business School and the Potanin Foundation have announced the names of the senior figures of five different NGOs who will be attending a course in Social Finance in Oxford from 4 to 8 November 2019.
Altogether there were 40 applicants who represent various NGOs that operate on a regional, national and international basis.
Oksana Oracheva, Director General of the Potanin Foundation, commented: “There is real demand for practical mechanisms to raise funds for NGOs in Russia. Increasingly, we see venture capital finance and social investors playing an important role in the charity sector while the use of endowments is also growing among NGOs. The Social Finance programme will incorporate training on endowments and other financial instruments that can improve the sustainability of the voluntary sector. We will also be discussing ways of addressing global challenges with community leaders and developing charitable work in Russia.”
The applicants who successfully completed the three stages of assessment are:
Yekaterina Babina, Head of Investor Relations for the interregional charity Children’s Villages SOS, Grigory Sverdlin, Director of Nochlezhka (Overnight Stay), a St Petersburg-based welfare organisation, Maria Oborina, Senior Expert-Investigator at the Centre for Social Analysis and Independent Research (known as the GRANI centre), Anastasia Basenko, Deputy Head of the Resource Centre for NGOs in Ivanovsk, and Natalya Zaitseva, Head of Sustainable Development at the Skolkovo School of Business Management in Moscow.
During the course they will have the opportunity to study various models of financing NGOs and to exchange ideas with the leaders of high-profile organisations from many different countries.
