On 9 July, the Head of State’s press service reported that Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was given a report by his Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova on the current work of the department and plans for the further development of the healthcare system.
The Health Minister also told the President that the country’s life expectancy has exceeded 75 years of age and that, since the start of the year, morbidity rates for 21 diseases, including coronavirus, have decreased.
The Minister of Health has been focusing on improving the quality and accessibility of medical services as instructed by the President. Revised arrangements for the organisation of primary and in-patient care are being revised, diagnostic and treatment standards updated and the sector’s human resources capacity strengthened. Modern digital technologies are being introduced to improve the efficiency of medical institutions and oversight of the compulsory social health insurance system.
“The President has set tasks for a qualitative restructuring of the healthcare system, with an emphasis on patient-oriented medical care”, said the press service.
