Is inclusive education for people with disabilities realistic or discredited?

Hearings will be held on 7 June to coincide with the
anniversary of ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities to discuss possible amendments to the law on inclusive education,
such as whether parents should be able to choose where their children are
educated; the law and reality; early remedial help; whether it is right to
abolish kindergartens for children with disabilities, both remedial and other
types of kindergartens; “reservations” or the path into society; does inclusive
education mean additional costs or savings?; does inclusive education lead to integration
or become a cause of discrimination?

Educational staff, specialists in healthcare, education
and social welfare, trade union representatives of such staff, parents, human
rights activists, and other relevant NGO activists are invited to attend. Start
at 1400, at Georgievsky Lane House 2, small hall, State Duma. Applications by
1800 on 5 June. Contact: Svetlana Suvorova, tel.
