Suggestions from third sector representatives will be included in the Forum’s final resolution document which will be submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation.

The youth platform event “Generation-2030”, organised by the Youth Government of the Krasnoyarsk Region in partnership with the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, took place as part of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum. During the platform event “Generation-2030” civil society activists and representatives from non-profit organisations discussed the key issues facing the third sector, including reform of the grant system for non-profit organisations, support for social businesses, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and the problems inherent in supporting citizens’ initiatives at the local level, claims the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. More than 500 people participated in the platform event: civil society, business and government representatives from all areas of the Russian Federation.

On the first day of the forum “a new social contract” was discussed, revealed Chairman of the Commission on the development of small and medium-sized businesses of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation Dmitry Sazonov. “We are talking about the appearance of active individuals in the field, individuals who will be the driving forces in the municipalities and regions. A key role here must be played by the Civic Chamber of Russia. The projects we support should encourage activists to believe in themselves and in their own power to solve any problems they face,” he said.

According to the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation “Perspective” project leader Aleksandr Svinin, the support of local citizens’ initiatives was the main topic of discussion during the “The state and the third sector” platform event. “One of the main proposals we discussed was the need to move away from the exclusive support of non-profit organisations at the federal and regional levels towards support of non-profits or community organisations at the local level. Participants in the discussion had concrete proposals on how to develop and support the local community. The solving of these tasks will be aided by the launch of a new grant-giving organisation to support NGOs in the smaller regions and rural areas – such projects can fall within the remit of this organisation,” explained Svinin.

Svinin announced that the subject of support for local communities should be included in the final resolution document of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum which will be submitted to the Government of the Russian Federation. In addition, he stated, the resolution of the forum should incorporate all of the best suggestions made in the framework of the “Generation-2030” platform.

The Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum will be held from the 18 to 20 February. The theme of the 2016 forum will be “Russia: 2030 strategy.” The participants will discuss the prospects for the development of the country in all sectors of the economy over the next 15 years. The main objective of the forum will be the preparation of proposals for the creation of a working mechanism for “The strategy for the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030.”
