Ministry
for Economic Development establishes support measures for social entrepreneurship

An order from the Ministry for Economic Development
has established that the constituent territories of the Russian Federation may
become areas for the development of social entrepreneurship. In order to be given
this status, the constituent territory must take responsibility for the
creation and development of social entrepreneurship, having received government
funding. The order regulates the creation and development of social entrepreneurship,
а socially responsible function of small and
medium-sized business entities, the aim of which is to solve social problems. The
order states that the largest subsidy available from the federal budget is 0.6 million
roubles per social entrepreneurship entity or recipient of support.   The
Ministry for Economic Development also proposes that regions of the Russian
Federation create a Centre for Innovation in the Social Sphere – a new
institute for the support of social entrepreneurship, under whose auspices the
School for Social Entrepreneurship will work.
