Medical help to be available by phone 24/7 in Russia

Medical consultations over the phone will be available round the clock by the end of 2018

26.02.2018

The Russian Minister of Health, Veronica Skvortsova, has announced that by the end of 2018 patients will be able to seek medical advice 24 hours a day.  Telephone consultations in Russia will not operate at a specific time of day, they will be available at any time of the day or night.  TASS reported Ms Skvortsova’s announcement during her visit to Nizhny Novgorod.

The law on medical care by telephone came into effect on 1 January 2018.  Now that the law is in force, doctors will be able to hold patient consultations using digital video links.  They will be able to adjust ongoing treatments and monitor the health of their patients, although initial consultations will still need to take place in person.  In addition, doctors will be able to take advantage of the technology to have long-range consultations with each other and exchange information and ideas.
