New prize for support for deaf and blind people

Applications are being accepted for the first “So-edinenie” competition in Russia

A competition has been announced for a prize “for contributing to the cause of developing and promoting systemic changes in the sphere of support and social integration of people with both visual and hearing impairments – So-edinenie”.

The award is intended to identify and encourage people who have significantly contributed to the support and protection of Russians who have both visual and hearing impairments, as well as those, who have created additional forms of support for active deafblind people. The competition is conducted by the charitable foundation for the support of the deafblind “So-edinenie”.

Representatives from authorities, artists, education workers, volunteers – all those who regularly and productively change the world of deafblind people for the better – may take part in the competition. Applications should be attached the media publications, letters of thanks, certificates, diplomas, recommendations and other materials from the past five years.

The award will be judged in the following categories:

  • for devotion and loyalty to the cause;
  • for contribution to support and protection;
  • for contribution to culture;
  • for the best project;
  • for a systematic approach to supporting and protecting Russians with both visual and hearing impairments.

The prize will be awarded on a competitive basis for all individuals and legal entities. The prize is to be awarded for the first time.

Nominations for the award are open until 15 June.

The prize-giving ceremony will take place on 15 October in the Theatre of Nations.
