Russian NGOs to receive more than 3.3 billion roubles from the Presidential Grants Fund

1644 non-profit organisations from 84 regions were winners in the first contest of 2019.

The results of the Presidential Grants Fund contest were summed up by Sergey Kirienko, Chairman of its Coordination Committee and First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.

The All-Russian cultural and charitable festival of children’s creativity ‘Dobraya volna’ received the biggest grant of 66 million roubles. Children with disabilities are amongst those who take part in the festival. The festival is carried out with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and the charity development foundation ‘Dobraya Kazan’. The general producer of the festival is People’s Artist of Russia, the composer Igor Krutoy.

The smallest grant, 71 590 thousand roubles, was given to the public organisation from the town of Kupino in the Novosibirsk oblast for the project ‘Tantsevalnoe leto’. These are daily dance events in the park for citizens of all ages.

87% of the winners are regional projects. These are 376 initiatives from small towns and rural areas for a total of 375 million roubles. Moscow and federal NGOs made up 13%. The average size of a grant was 2 million roubles.

The most popular area amongst winners was the protection of citizens’ health and promoting a healthy way of life: 271 projects in this sphere will receive assistance as a result of the contest. In second place were projects to do with culture and art with 217 winners. In third place were projects aimed at preserving historical memory with 193 winners. The second Presidential Grants contest of 2019 begins on 10 June. Applications are open until 31 July. Submitting applications will also be possible from 14 October to 25 November (for the first contest of 2020).
