Regional social development prize winners

Winners of the Alexander Pochinok prize for the best regional social development programmes have been announced

A contest has been held amongst subjects of the Russian Federation assessing programmes, initiatives and projects addressing social problems in the regions. This year’s winners were Vladimir region, Zabaykalsky region and the Sakha Republic (Yakutia).

The nationwide Alexander Pochinok contest for regional social development programmes was organised with the support of expert government advisors, the Ministry of Economic Development, the programme committee of the Sochi 2014 International Investment Forum and Natalia Pochinok, the Rector of Russian State Social University.

Programmes were evaluated according to the following criteria: social need, conformity with the priorities of the Concept for the Long-Term Socio-Economic Development of the Russian Federation to 2020, and the social effect observed by the end of the programme.

The winners of the contest were: the Vladimir region administration, nominated for ‘Innovative Social Services for the Elderly – the Path to Active Old Age’ (first place); the government of Zabaykalsky region for the programme ‘Giving Children a Future’ (second place); and the government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) for the sub-programme ‘Supporting Socially-Orientated NGOs’ (third place).

The winners in special categories were: the cabinet of ministers of the Chuvash Republic for the programme ‘Cradle of Hope’; the government of Belgorod region for the provision of mobile services for those entitled to benefits in the Korochansky region; the government of Novosibirsk region for the programme ‘For Equal Opportunities’; the government of Murmansk region for the project ‘Agency for Supporting Single Fathers’; the government of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) for its ‘Hope’ programme of socio-cultural rehabilitation for families bringing up a child with disabilities; the government of Omsk region for its assistance of self-employed women, including those with children, through a public-private partnership; the government of Vologda region for the sub-programme ‘Preventing Neglect, Juvenile Delinquency and Crime’; the government of Krasnoyarsk region for the vocational volunteer movement ‘Your Horizons’; the government of Sverdlovsk region for the programme ‘Supporting Socially-Orientated NGOs 2014-2016’; and the government of Vologda region for the project ‘New Emergency Care’, aimed at the renewing fleet vehicles through a public-private partnership.
