Results of Presidential Grants competition
31.10.2018
The winners of the 2nd Presidential Grants competition of the year have now been announced.
A total of 2,022 NGOs from all over Russia will receive State support following the 2nd Presidential Grants competition of the year. 9,843 project applications were entered from all 85 Russian regions. In all, nearly 4.7 billion roubles will be distributed among the winners.
Speaking to journalists at a post-meeting briefing, Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of Staff of Russia’s Presidential Administration, said “We had originally planned to allocate around 4 billion 535 million roubles but ended up handing out 4 billion 690 million. Some of the shortfall will come from funds saved by the Presidential Grants Foundation in administration costs”.
It’s worth mentioning that more than half the winners (1,049) are first-time Presidential Grant winners. Experts have also seen a steady increase in the number of successful regional projects which have quadrupled since 2015 (a record 583 came from small regions and rural areas in the latest contest).
According to a statement published on the Presidential Grants Foundation’s website: “The quality of projects has improved markedly. Pass scores were the same as in previous competitions, with the total amount allocated to winning projects more than was originally envisaged”. A full list of successful NGOs can also be seen on the Foundation’s website.
6,786 projects have received more than 14 billion roubles in financial support in the four Presidential Grants competitions held this year and last. 3,573 regional projects will have received 7.8 billion roubles. Organisers are saying that the number of winners and grants offered is the best in the history of support to NGOs.
