The book’s author, Elena Zablotskis, works in a legal capacity for Special Childhood, the Centre for Medical Pedagogy. The book is drawn from her many years of experience providing counsel to families caring for people with mental disorders, and her interactions with state authorities. There are many references to current legislation, as well as the author’s international experience and perspective.

The book is written primarily for parents looking after children with mental disorders, carers and care organisations, social services and non-profit and charitable organisations dedicated to supporting people with mental disabilities.
