Russia: CSOs to be checked for ties to ‘undesirable’ foreign organisations
Checks to be made on CSOs for any involvement in the activities of foreign “undesirable” organisations
13.02.2024
On 12 February, a Bill was submitted to the Russian State Duma that could impose “undesirable” status on organisations in the Russian Federation that have been founded by foreign State bodies. At present, only foreign CSOs can be classed as such.
As a result, amendments are being prepared to the law on CSOs. If the proposed legislation is adopted, unscheduled audits of CSOs will be carried out to see if they are taking part in the activities of foreign State-supported organisations.
