The Government Commission on Legislative Activity has approved an initiative that proposes to give the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation the right to keep information about CSOs founded by the state, reports the Russian Agency of Legal and Judicial Information (abbreviated as RAPSI in Russian).
“The project intends to form a register of CSOs created by the State. The Ministry of Justice of the Russia is to be given the authority to maintain the register. It should be emphasised that the registry will not include public corporations, state companies and their non-profit organisations, or government agencies,” RAPSI quotes Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia.
Thus, according to the initiative, CSOs must send information on designated individuals, who are representatives of the Russian Federation in the CSO’s governing bodies, to the authorised body within 30 days of the state registration of the CSO.
Vladimir Gruzdev also noted that due to the lack of registers for CSOs in which the Russian Federation is a member of the governing body, the exact number of state-established CSOs and the number of state representatives in CSOs is unknown.
According to the results of the preliminary analysis, the approximate number of such CSOs is about 80.
