Following a strategy session in the Federation’s Council of Ministers in July, Russia’s Prime Minister ordered work on the national Family project to be finalised. He endorsed the general approach and the list of federal projects which will be included in it. According to the Council of Ministers, its implementation will:
- increase support for families after the birth of a child and at all stages in their development;
- create a holistic support system for citizens (especially large families and older people)
“Every aspect of this detailed and wide-ranging initiative needs to be taken into account when working on the project and the federal programmes that will be part of it. Help for citizens who raise children, or care for young and older people, will be a priority for the Government”, said Mishustin.
The Prime Minister has also asked the Ministry of Labour and relevant executive agencies to consider how additional federal budget expenditure can be used to finance the national Family project from 2025.
As part of increasing support for young families and those with children, the Ministries of Labour, Construction and Finance have been instructed to develop non-mortgage instruments for improving their housing situation.
Mishustin also stated that pensioners should be more involved in cultural, leisure and educational events, as well as volunteer activities.
Discussions will also be held with the Ministry of Culture on measures necessary for the further implementation of its Pushkin Map programme.
