Russian disability benefits to increase from February

The Russian Government has agreed to increase social payments to disabled people and veterans from 1 February this year.
The relevant Order, which has been published on the Cabinet Ministers’ website, states that the benefit amount will increase by 4.3%, i.e. the coefficient for indexed payments, benefits and compensation will go up to 1.043 compared to last year’s figure of 1.025.
Among those who will be receiving higher benefits will be citizens who have been exposed to radiation, people injured at work, Heroes of the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation and full cavaliers of the Order of Glory. Children’s allowances will also go up.
According to Izvestia, there have been reports that the Government plans to spend more than 25 billion roubles for indexing social benefits.
