Non-profit organisations and entrepreneurs in the social sector require managerial and financial support, claims the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich has announced that the state does not always have the administrative capacity to provide assistance to millions of needy citizens and called for a system to provide support to non-profit organisations that implement social projects and entrepreneurs working in the social sphere, TASS news agency reports.

“There must be greater emphasis, the focus should be on the activities and actions of a wide variety of NGOs and entrepreneurs in the social sphere. We must provide them with a system of support: managerial and financial aid, even with limited resources. It is, admittedly, our limited resources which force us to do this because the state is unable to do everything itself,” the news agency quotes Dvorkovich as saying during the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum.

Earlier in the forum the “Generation-2030” platform event took place, during which civil society activists and representatives from non-profit organisations discussed the key challenges for the third sector, including reform of the grant system for non-profit organisations, the support of social businesses, public-private partnerships (PPPs) and the problems inherent in supporting citizens’ initiatives at the local level.
