Shops in Russia assist lost people to return home

The Safety Zones project helped 1,183 lost individuals return home

Safety Zones is a project of the X5 Group (Pyaterochka and Perekrestok chains), in collaboration with the Centre to Search for Missing People and the Liza Alert search and rescue team.

A lost person can walk into any Pyaterochka or Perekrestok and ask an employee of the store or wait to be offered help. Employees were trained to “identify” a lost or disoriented individual and pass on information about him or her to searchers.

In 2022, store employees helped 1,183 lost people return home. Most requests for help were received at stores in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Nizhny Novgorod, and Kazan.

A total of 3,831 people have received assistance since the project began in 2019, 228 of whom were children.
