Social advertising featuring women living with HIV appearing on digital screens in a number of Russian cities

Women living with HIV are telling their stories on digital screens in St Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kazan, Irkutsk and Yekaterinburg.

An information campaign has been launched by the E.V.A. Association with the hashtag anormallife that invites users to share their life experiences to support people with HIV in the fight against stigma and stereotyping.

Eight women are sharing their life stories, stressing that life with HIV is no different from that without the disease as long as you keep up with the *treatment.

The advertisements are being displayed in cities where these women live: Anna Sitnikova and Irina Alekseeva from St Petersburg, Taisiya Lanyugova from Novosibirsk, Olga Meleshina from Nizhny Novgorod, Elena Titina from Samara, Svetlana Izambaeva from Kazan, Maria Petrova from Irkutsk and Polina Rodimkina from Yekaterinburg are all taking part in the campaign.

*Antiretroviral therapy (ART) is a combination of drugs that reduces concentrations of HIV in the body. A person who has regular ART therapy will over time accumulate an undetectable viral load. In such instances, HIV cannot be transmitted from one person to another, either through unprotected sex or from mother to child at birth.
