The project focuses on various types of sexual violence, active consent and rules around safe sex.
The women’s self-help network “You are not alone” has launched a new initiative “I didn’t say yes” (https://tineodna.ru/ididntsayyes) whose aim is to draw attention to the problems of sexual abuse in Russia and to educate society on the principles of safe sex relationships. It is supported by the media, bloggers and the Try More brand.
According to “You are not alone”, every third woman in the world suffers physical or sexual violence committed by their partners. It states that 11.5% of Russian adults have experienced sexual abuse, with only 3% of these people having reported such cases to the police.
The “I didn’t say yes” initiative covers psychological, legal and social problems linked to the problem. In it, people can learn about:
- Various types of sexual violence;
- The laws that offer protection against sexual abuse;
- What constitutes active consent;
- Rape that occurs in marriage;
- How to help yourself or a friend who has experienced sexual violence
