Putin signs decree to assist children with disabilities

Social measures put in place to assist children with disabilities

On July 26, Vladimir Putin signed a decree which will allow children with disabilities and those accompanying them to skip queues and receive priority consideration in certain social establishments.

The changes have been written into the decree of October 2, 1992, No. 1557 ‘On additional measures of state support for disabled people’.

The decree came into force from the moment of signing. Now, children with disabilities must be prioritised and served first in shops, catering establishments, health care services, housing and communal services educational institutions, as well as certain cultural organisations.

They will also be granted the right to priority admission over heads of organisations and officials.

Previously, only people with group I or group II disabilities had these rights.
