The Federation’s Ministry of Justice approves model statutes for CSOs

The Ministry has published an Order dated 30 June 2023 on the “Approval of CSO Model Statutes”. The 49-page document contains templates for the drafting of model statutes for bodies such as regional and local non-profit organisations and private institutions.

Last December, the State Duma approved federal law no. 535 that changed the rules for maintaining CSO constituent documentation. On 1 March this year, amendments to legislation on CSOs and Public Associations came into effect that allow CSOs to prepare their own statutes as part of a more simplified process: not to include provisions that duplicate existing laws within the text and to use the templates. Experts recently discussed the pros and cons of the changes during an interview with the ASI.
