Since the earthquake in southern Turkey on February 6, over 37,000 people have died and 80,000 have been affected.
The collection in Tooba was organised by the “Zakyat” and “Sabil” foundations. Donors sent money from all over Russia, and from abroad, including Turkey, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and other countries.
“Most users sent five or 10 thousand roubles each, but some anonymous donors made one-time payments of 600 thousand, and even a million, roubles,” said Tooba founder Ramazan Majidov.
The money raised has already been used to buy sleeping bags, heaters, thermoses, tens, baby formula, basic necessities, diapers, non-perishable food, and medicine.
The Tooba app launched in 2018. Since its launch, it has raised over 600 million rubles for charitable foundations. Tooba works with more than 100 foundations.
