State Prize for human rights and charitable work: deadline 10 February

Applications being invited for a State prize in the field of human rights and charitable work

Entries for the Russian State prize for outstanding achievements in the field of human rights and charitable work are being accepted until 10 February 2021.

The State prize will be awarded to human rights activists and philanthropists who have been involved in dedicated and successful action aimed at protecting human and civil rights and freedoms, strengthening and promoting civil society institutions, creating a culture of charity, patronage and volunteer work, providing selfless assistance to those in need and who in so doing have received widespread national recognition. The winning prize will be worth 2.5 million roubles.

The prize was first awarded in 2015. Previous winners were Elizaveta Glinka (Dr Liza) Director of the “Fair Help” Foundation, Lyudmila Alekseeva, Chair of the Moscow Helsinki Group, Konstantin Khabensky, actor and founder of a charity that helps children suffering from cancer and archpriest Alexander Tkachenko, founder of Russia’s first children’s hospice.
