Transparency International declared undesirable organisation in Russian

The Office set out online that the decision was based on a review of material it had received. The review found that, “while officially working as a worldwide anti-corruption body, Transparency International has been interfering in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, which constitutes a threat to the basic constitutional order and security of the Russian Federation”.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested the Ministry of Justice to add Transparency International to the list of foreign and international non-governmental organisations whose activities have been declared undesirable in the Russian Federation. Seventy-five organisations are already on the list.
A law on undesirable organisations was enacted in May 2015. Decisions on whether to declare an organisation’s work undesirable are taken by the Russian Federation Public Prosecutor (or their deputies) in consultation with the Russian Ministry of Justice.
