Turkmenistan has approved a new procedure for providing medical help for people who are HIV-positive

Turkmenistan’s Minister of Health and Medical Industry, M. Mammadov, signed an official Order No. 297 on 15 July, approving the provision of assistance for those who are HIV-positive.
The Order outlines the procedure for providing various types of medical help to HIV patients, including primary health care, specialist, high-tech and palliative care. The document also regulates the work of specialist departments who provide treatment to people with HIV.
Under the Order, HIV sufferers are guaranteed free access to essential medication. Particular attention is also given to providing care for related diseases and emergency health conditions, as well as improving the quality of and accessibility to medical support for HIV patients.
The new procedure was registered by the Ministry of Justice on 8 August (Registration number 1819).
