During the holiday season, social media platform VKontake launched their project “Doing Good is Better Together.” By engaging with the platform’s services, users were able to help raise funds for charity. This included listening to VK Music, ordering via the services Delivery Club, Citymobile or City Drive, purchasing the Marusya Capsule (a voice-activated AI assistant), or subscribing to VK Combo.

“We will spend the money we receive from VKontakte on inclusive projects in our Social Rehabilitation Centre,” says Elena Filbert, executive director of the Anton Here Nearby Foundation. “Every month 90 families with a child or adult with autism access our services and support”.

The Lighthouse Charity Foundation will spend the money they receive on a children’s hospice. Meanwhile, the charity Plus Help for Children will use the funds to provide individual equipment for pre-schoolers with disabilities. The money received by the Joy in Old Age Foundation will be used to pay assistants who care for those bedridden or with limited mobility.

The Khabensky Foundation plans to purchase a centre for virtual medical rehabilitation and diagnostics, while the Light in Hands charity will use the money for their therapy services, including individual consultations and support groups, which help over 300 people who have suffered child loss.

In total, 22 organisations received funds: Light. Children, a children’s cancer charity; Fragile People, a foundation supporting those with osteogenesis imperfecta; Light in Hands, an organisation supporting those who have experienced the loss of a child during pregnancy, childbirth, and after; Anton Here Nearby, a systemic support fund for people with autism; Alive, a foundation supporting adults with serious illnesses; No Losses, a charitable foundation providing support to children with cancer; Not In Vain, a cancer charity; Faith, an animal rescue centre; Delphi, a dolphin rescue centre; Plus Help For Children, a children’s medical charity; Lighthouse Charity Foundation, a children’s hospice; Louis’ Quarter, an orphanage; Joy In Old Age, an organisation supporting the elderly; RAY, an animal shelter; My Baikal, an environmental organisation working to protect and preserve Lake Baikal; Change A Life, a foster care and adoption agency; Life is a Miracle, a foundation supporting children with liver disease; Nochlezhka, a housing and homelessness charity; The Khabensky Foundation, a foundation supporting seriously ill children; Safe House, a crime-prevention programme; Prospects, a group of charities working to improve the lives of children and adults with severe disabilities; and Pravmir, a medical charity for children and adults with serious illnesses.
