WE ARE RECRUITING A CO-CHAIRMAN AND NEW TRUSTEES
JOIN THE BEARR TRUST BOARD AND HELP VULNERABLE PEOPLE IN EASTERN EUROPE AND CENTRAL ASIA
The BEARR Trust is recruiting additional trustees, including one who is expected to become co-chairman in June 2024.
If you are interested in health and social welfare and have some knowledge of the region where The BEARR Trust works – Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the South Caucasus – you may be able to help us.
This is an exciting time to join BEARR’s diverse and engaged trustee team. Building on its origins as a charity formed in 1992 to help vulnerable people in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union, BEARR has developed a unique combination of grant giving and information sharing for community-based organisations across the region.
Since February 2022, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, BEARR has turned its network of small grass-roots organisations in Ukraine and Moldova into a channel for rapid and targeted distribution of humanitarian aid. As a result, BEARR’s operations and contacts have grown significantly, opening up new opportunities to improve support for vulnerable people through local activism.
We welcome applications from anyone with:
- experience of the region in a government or industry role
- experience of the non-government, civil society and charity sectors, especially in health and social welfare
- expertise in accounting and IT
- expertise in fundraising and donor relations.
In addition we would like to encourage applications from young people looking for their first charity trusteeship.
Trustees are appointed for three-year terms. They meet six times a year, either in person in London or online. Trustees also attend BEARR’s annual conference in London and occasional conferences or workshops held in other countries of the region. Trustees take on voluntary operational roles, in addition to their governance role, according to their skills and availability. Trustees are not paid but they may claim reasonable travel expenses.
For more information, contact info@bearr.org. The deadline for applications is Monday 18 September 2023.
