Project report: “Volunteering Academy 2025”

Two grantees in the same city used their 2025 SGS Strand B grant from The BEARR Trust to run a joint “Volunteering Academy 2025” training and resilience-building programme.

During the programme 30 staff and volunteers attended 10 in-person, six-hour sessions with experienced trainers.

The programme covered topics most in-demand in the current challenging context:

1. “First Aid and Traumatology”;

2. “Micronutrients: what they are and their role in human health”;

3. “Stress Resistance: techniques for maintaining balance in any situation”;

4. “Dialogues without anxiety”;

5. “Civil Security and Emergency Preparedness.”

6. “Personal and team resilience”;

7. “Food Culture: the path to a healthy and happy life”;

8. “How to turn your weaknesses into strengths”;

9. “Tuberculosis is not a death sentence: how to recognise, avoid, and cure it”;

10. “Effective interaction with people affected by war.”

As a result of the training at the Volunteering Academy 2025, staff and volunteers gained a wealth of new, useful knowledge and practical skills.

This significantly improved the well-being of staff and volunteers, and also increased the resilience of the organisations.

The acquisition of additional knowledge and skills strengthened the capabilities of our organization and partners, helped us become more effective and sustainable,” said Oleg, the head of one of the organisations. “This will help our team work consistently, more effectively and smoothly in conditions of change and in critical situations and will help our organisation and partners in building human capital to provide services in greater quantity and higher quality.”

As a result of training at the 2025 Volunteering Academy, we gained useful knowledge and practical skills,” said Kateryna, a volunteer at one of the organisations. “This allowed me and my teammates to increase our own safety, use our own skills to cope with difficult life situations, and increase the effectiveness of our activities.”

We sincerely thank The BEARR Trust for being with us during this difficult time,” said Sergey, the head of the other organisation. “Now we will implement joint projects with renewed vigour to assist our beneficiaries who are in critical life situations.”

The BEARR Trust sees this project as an excellent example of how organisations working together can enhance the benefits to all parties and help towards building stronger and more resilient communities.
