The Continuation Foundation platform for verifying CSOs has been launched in Russia. “Our aim is to create tools for CSOs to ensure that every person is able to receive the level of help they need”, says the Foundation.

One of the Foundation’s main tasks is to create Russia’s largest directory of CSOs which is vetted by other verification platforms, major donors, as well as federal and regional authorities.

The project has been initiated by a number of figures from the charity sector, including:

  • Marina Aksenova, Director of the Solnechny Gorod (Sunny City) charity;
  • Anastasia Gulyavina, board member of the Vtoroye Dikhanye (Second Breath) Foundation and head of the Institute of Social Change Advisers;
  • Alexander Semin, founder of the What if Semin? creative agency.

“There are over 70,000 CSOs in Russia offering help every day to those fighting for a better life. In order for this to be done more effectively and to provide support for people in need, charities require help – from Government, grant awards, experts, corporate partners and hundreds or thousands of private donors. Not all CSOs have the necessary experience, nor does everyone know how to make an organisation sustainable”.

“We believe the Continuation Foundation can become a major support and specialist hub. To this end, we have assembled a strong team of charity professionals who will create a range of tools to enhance the development of the sector in Russia”, said Semin.

In creating this directory, Continuation plans to work with:

  • Charities, which are always in need of support;
  • Donors, for whom making donations is becoming a normal and regular practice;
  • Those in need of help and who want to apply to charities to obtain it;
  • Representatives of companies that wish to make their businesses socially responsible, as well as introducing environmental, social and governance practices.

Today, more than 100 CSOs are listed in the Foundation’s directory, with over 8,000 donors already using the platform.
