NPO LAB Social Platform launched at St Petersburg International Economic Forum

24.05.2018

The NPO LAB social platform was launched on the first day of the Forum on 24 May.

“We’re used to seeing the St Petersburg Economic Forum as a platform for collaboration between business and the state on issues of economics, technology and innovation. With the introduction of NPO LAB we have an opportunity to discuss social issues which are as important as those I’ve just mentioned”, said Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Tatyana Golikova, at the platform’s launch.

In Golikova’s view, the introduction of the platform and NGO involvement in the Forum will make a significant contribution to the development of Russia’s social sector and in the implementation of tasks outlined in Vladimir Putin’s address to Russia’s Federal Assembly and his May decree.

“We want to be the catalyst for promoting the national socio-economic agenda and are ready to involve business in resolving social problems. We will, of course, continue with this social platform at all our events” said Alexander Stuglev, Head of the “Roskongress” charity and organiser of the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Events will be held on the NPO LAB platform on all three days including presentations on the “NGO pro” project and Presidential Grants success stories, as well as discussions on current charity issues such as the provision of palliative care, developing activities in old age and social inclusion. There will also be charity events organised by the children’s hospice “White Flower”, the “Remembering Generations” and “Red Carnation” charities, as well as an exhibition organised by the “Transcription of Noise” foundation.

The St Petersburg Forum is being held for the 22ndtime. Issues relating to corporate charity have always been a regular part of its programme.
