Vladimir Putin was speaking at a meeting of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives’ Board held on 23 January.
The Russian President emphasised the need for providing the best possible living conditions for large families.
“We must increase our efforts to promote examples of best practice in support of motherhood and childhood, as well as improving quality in the social sector, tailored to the interests of the family. It is important that a comfortable living environment is created for large families that span the generations”, said Putin.
Putin also highlighted the need to help socially vulnerable groups who are living in very difficult circumstances, and creating a healthy environment for Russian citizens.
“Adaptation of regions to climate change, protecting ecosystems, increasing natural capital and unlocking the potential of nature’s economy – all this is important. But the end result of all this work, which will be clear and very important to its citizens, is the creation of a healthy environment in populated areas”, said the President.
Putin also said that he expects the Agency for Strategic Initiatives to develop a range of innovative mechanisms to stimulate improvements in the quality of life in small towns. These should include models for broadening educational opportunities, healthcare, enhancing the natural environment, creating modern living conditions and restoring cultural heritage monuments.
The President also mentioned the issue of foreign citizens coming to Russia, stating that, on his instructions and with the help of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a special project office is to be set up, led by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives. Its task will be to provide support to immigrants when they arrive in the country, to help them settle in, find jobs and education for their children.
