BEARR Event: Talk and Discussion with Dr Sarkissian, Former President of Armenia, 10 March

The BEARR Trust is delighted to invite you to a talk and discussion with Dr Armen Sarkissian, former president of Armenia (2018-2022), who will present his book The Small States Club: How Small Smart Powers Can Save the World and discuss the current political situation in Armenia. With relations between Armenia and neighbouring Azerbaijan deteriorating, this is an important and timely opportunity to hear Dr Sarkissian’s insights.

Hybrid Event with Limited In-Person Capacity

This event will be held in a hybrid format. We warmly welcome attendees in person in the Houses of Parliament, but space is limited. If you would like to attend in person, please register your interest by 28 February. We will review all in-person registration requests and confirm availability one week prior to the event.

Please note that registering your interest does not guarantee a place for in-person attendance. If we are unable to accommodate you in person, we hope you will join us online instead.

About the Speaker:

Dr Armen Sarkissian served as the President of the Republic of Armenia from 2018 to 2022. From 1996 to 1997, he also served as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. In 1992, Armen Sarkissian was appointed as the Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United Kingdom and simultaneously served as Armenia’s Senior Ambassador in Europe, Ambassador to the Vatican, EU, NATO, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.

Between 2000 and 2013, Dr Sarkissian held various roles in European institutions, think tanks, multinational corporations, Cambridge University, and other universities and foundations. With careers as a Physics professor, a senior diplomat, and a former President and Prime Minister of Armenia, Dr Armen Sarkissian is well-known as a philanthropist and influential leader. He possesses extensive business and civic networks in major capitals around the world. He chaired a group of global investment companies specialising in energy, real estate, and high technology industries. While deeply involved in humanitarian and charitable projects, he also holds prominent leadership positions in international organisations.

Dr Sarkissian is the author of Art of Diplomacy – Quantum Politics and the 2023 bestseller Small States Club. He is actively promoting necessity of – S20 organization.

Dr Sarkissian, together with his son Vartan Sarkissian, has recently founded ATOM (Advanced Tomorrow), a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing health, well-being, and longevity. The inaugural conference, held in Singapore in 2023, was a great success. Their most recent conference, Revolutionising Healthcare and Longevity, was held in London and was equally successful. It brought together influential figures from diverse sectors, including politics, business, academia and arts, to explore transformative ideas in healthcare and longevity.

Dr Sarkissian boasts over 35 years of experience in science and technology, global diplomacy, and international business. He was also one of the co-creators of the Tetris-Wordtris game.

BEARR has long supported projects in Armenia, working with local NGOs to vulnerable groups affected by conflict, migration, and social disadvantage. Recent supported initiatives include vocational training for women, digital skills programs for young people, social enterprises to support disadvantaged communities, and assistance for families of people with disabilities.
