BEARR is seeking a new Honorary Treasurer

Join The BEARR Trust Board and help vulnerable people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia

We are recruiting a new Treasurer

If you are interested in supporting community-based organisations working with vulnerable people in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, you may be able to help us.

This is an exciting time to join BEARR’s diverse and engaged trustee team. Building on its origins as a charity formed in 1991 to help vulnerable people in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union, BEARR has developed a unique combination of grant giving and information sharing.

Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, we established a Ukraine Appeal to provide emergency assistance via smaller community-based organisations in Ukraine and Moldova. This has led to a significant increase in our income and expenditure, and has increased our contacts and partnerships locally. In 2025 we transitioned from emergency aid to long-term support and launched the Ukraine Community Resilience Fund — a new initiative focused on sustaining the efforts of local organisations working on the front lines of recovery.

Our current Treasurer has become BEARR’s new Chairman, and we are looking for a new Treasurer to succeed him. If you have experience of financial administration and management and an interest in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, we would love to hear from you! You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but experience of preparing charity accounts would be an advantage.

As Treasurer, you would also be a Trustee, with opportunities to take on a range of different roles within The BEARR Trust, depending on skills and availability. Trustees are not paid but they may claim reasonable travel expenses.

If you are interested please send your CV with a cover letter to info@bearr.org.
