Kyrgyzstan’s President amends legislation on protection from domestic, sexual and gender-based violence

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a law On Amendments to Legislative Acts for Protection from Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, according to a statement issued by the head of State’s Press Office.
The legal document was adopted by the national Supreme Council (Jogorku Kenesh) on 26 June. It provides comprehensive assistance to those who have suffered domestic, sexual or gender-based violence, removing the impunity for perpetrators of violence, ensuring access to justice for victims of criminal assault and improving the effectiveness of officials who handle criminal cases of this kind.
Amendments are being made to Kyrgyzstan’s Criminal Code, the Administrative Offences Code, the Criminal Executive Code, the Housing Code, laws On Protection from Domestic Violence, On Probation, On Internal Affairs Bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic and On Bodies and Institutions of the Criminal Executive (Prison) System.
