Donations via Russian internet platforms grew 150% last year
The donations on online platforms grew by one and a half times last year
The Culture of Philanthropy Foundation, with support from Blago.ru, analysed data on online donations through platforms for 2021 and the first months of 2022.
09.08.2022
In 2021, four million individual donations processed by online platforms raised more than 1.1 billion roubles. The volume of donations increased by one and a half times compared to the previous year.
An average single donation to Dobro Mail.ru, Help Needed, and Tooba was approximately 100 roubles. Blago.ru, Planeta.ru, SberVmeste, and Aid had average contributions of more than 500 roubles. The average value of a recurring donation varies from 100 to 600 roubles across the platforms.
In 2021, the share of recurring donations fell to 32% of all collected funds, or 354 million roubles. In 2020, recurring donations totalled 61% of all funds raised — 310 million roubles.
Help Needed had the largest number of regular donors: 61% of all donations were recurring, but in the previous year, it was 82%.
Platforms that have been operating for a long time — such as Blago.ru, Dobro Mail.ru, and Planeta.ru — saw an insignificant increase in contributors in 2021. The platform Help Needed had 14% fewer donors. New platforms, however, saw a twofold increase in the number of contributors: Tooba and the app Help had a threefold increase in the number of contributors.
Overall, a growing number of CSOs collect donations through online platforms. For example, the Tooba app added 70 CSOs, the SberVmeste platform added 60, and Help Needed added 56.
