NGOs may have own songs and symbols

Ministry of Justice proposes allowing
NGOs to have their own songs and crests

According
to Rossiskaya Gazette a bill allowing each NGO to adopt its own song and crest
is to be published.

If the
bill passes, it will mean that NGOs will no longer have to register their
symbols; it will be sufficient to incorporate them in their founding documents.
This will bring them into line with other communal bodies. Ministry of Justice
figures show that up to the present only 1.5% of NGOs created in Russia have
registered symbols. The bill’s promoters explain that their use of symbols is
needed in order to keep NGOs in the public eye.
