The Russian President commits his Government to help NGOs
Vladimir Putin has submitted a series of amendments on the workings of government to the Russian State Duma which includes a specific Article committing it to provide help to NGOs.
Article 20 of the draft law states that the Cabinet of Ministers shall have new powers in the areas of social security, family and child protection, health care and working with civil society institutions, including NGOs.
The Cabinet will also have to ensure the participation of NGOs in the development and implementation of Government policy and support the work of volunteer and voluntary organisations.
The amendments will be discussed by the Duma during its autumn session, said Pavel Krasheninnikov, Head of the State Duma Committee on State Building and Legislation.
