Subsidies for patriotic education NGOs

Not-for-profit
organisations involved in the patriotic education of citizens to be given
subsidies

The Russian Ministry for Labour and Social Security has
introduced a draft law regarding the granting of subsidies to social associations
and organisations which are actively involved in the patriotic education of
Russians, the Cabinet press office has said.
In accordance with this, an amendment has been suggested to the federal
law on not-for-profit organisations.  The
idea of offering material support to ‘patriotic’, not-for-profit organisations
was discussed at the 32nd meeting of the ‘Pobeda’ Russian organising
committee.  A report from the meeting
foresees the preparation of a proposal to award grants to social associations
and organisations which are involved in the patriotic education of Russian
citizens.  According to the draft law,
community-focussed, not-for-profit organisations which carry out such
activities will be offered a subsidiary from budget allocations set aside for
the purpose by Russia’s Ministry for Economic Development.

It is expected that the implementation of the law will
promote work in the patriotic education of citizens and will raise the status
of veterans’ organisations.
