New volunteers

BEARR is always delighted to welcome new volunteers, who play such a great role in our activities. Here are two of our newest recruits.

Holly Battye

Holly graduated from Cambridge with a degree in Russian and French and has spent a number of years studying, working and volunteering in Russia, primarily with a focus on translation work. Most recently, she has graduated from Oxford with a Master’s in Slavonic Studies, having centred her research on gender questions and inequalities in Russia and Ukraine.

Holly is currently translating news article for BEARR’s website.

Flora Kader

Flora studied French and Russian at UCL, SSEES. During her degree she spent time in St Petersburg, Kazan and Ekaterinburg – as well as the small Latvian town of Daugavpils. Since graduating she has worked in a PR consultancy in Moscow, and travelled around Spain while learning the language. She is interested in Russian history and civil society, and after COVID is keen to explore the Caucasus. She is currently working as a multilingual researcher. Her voluntary experience includes the Campaign Against Living Miserably, Albrighton Community Fridge and Pushkin House.

Flora is helping BEARR with social media.
