The Centre for NGO Development (TsRNO, Saint
Petersburg) has released a brochure entitled “Best practice in public annual
reports of NGOs, 2012”.  It examines best
practice in the compilation of public annual reports by NGOs according to
“Point of Reference”, the 6^th All-Russian Competition for NGO Annual
Reports (2012).  The brochure will be
useful above all to NGOs compiling public reports, but also to interested
readers.

Over a number of years the TsRNO has provided
methodological support to NGOs trying to compile public reports.  The organisation has brought out several guides
dedicated to the creation of NGO annual reports and their dissemination on the
internet.  TsRNO representatives say
that, in the compilation of the guides, the authors set themselves the task of
showing organisations examples of how it is possible to produce reports to act
as effective instruments of communication between NGOs, society, and public
institutions – donors, the media, the government.  Organisations have been helped with this by
the “Donors’ Forum” Non-profit Partnership of Grantmaking Organisations.
