DOBRO 2016 focuses on use of social media by charities

The second annual ‘DOBRO 2016’ conference will take place from 9-11 April. In 2016 the conference will be dedicated to providing professional development for charitable foundations. Digital Day will be an NGO representative for the first time. The speakers will talk about effective instruments and best practices in the digital sphere and give recommendations for how to effectively lead a group and create partner projects via social media.

The ‘DOBRO 2016’ conference (Dobro stands for Business discussion of philanthropy for the development of society) is organised as a service project by ‘Dobro Mail.Ru’, the companies ‘Megafon’, ‘Metalloinvest’, USM Holdings and the foundation ‘Art, science and sport’. The conference will take place from 9-11 April at the Mail.Ru Group office.

In 2016 the conference will be dedicated to providing professional development for charitable foundations. Some of the main goals include; the exchange of best practices and know-how in the sphere of fundraising, the development of non-commercial organisations and cooperation with businesses. Digital Day will be an NGO representative for the first time. Digital Day will look at effective instruments and best practices in the digital sphere and representatives from the social networks VKontatke and Odnoklassniki will give recommendations on how to effectively lead groups and create partner projects using limited budgets.

On 9 April, the plenary session at ‘DOBRO 2016’ will open, which will discuss the changes in ways of attracting donations in times of crisis. After that the master class will start, during which it will be possible to find out how to correctly make a budget for an NGO and effectively manage it. Participants will also talk about the juridical aspect of NGOs activities and certain instruments such as voluntary fundraising. The day will conclude with an interactive session on creating foundation presentations for business with help from experts.

The second day of the conference will cover digital instruments. In the theoretical unit, participants will present the main trends in the digital sphere and the best examples of NGOs on the Runet (Russian Internet) and in the world. The practical unit will consist of three workshops on current themes for representatives from charitable foundations, covering the following: how to correctly discuss your aims with creative and advertising agencies, how to address the needs of the target audience when planning activities and how to effectively help orphaned children. During the ‘Russian social networks for NGOs’ session, charitable foundations will firstly receive recommendations from representatives of ‘Vkontakte’ and ‘Odnoklassniki’ on how to manage groups on Russian social networks and implement partnership projects. Foundations will be able to present their cases and receive feedback.

The last day of the conference will cover interaction with business. During the charitable project fair, foundations will have the opportunity to present their projects to business representatives. There will also be a talk show with Russian stars taking part. Their goal is to help charitable organisations to encourage famous people to become involved in the work of their foundation and to find solutions to socially significant problems.

The first ‘DOBRO’ conference took place from 4-6 February 2015. The objective of the conference was to enhance the skills of local non-commercial organisations, the quality of their work and the level of their projects. During the first two days, leading experts from the industry spoke before the conference participants. They talked about communication between private and corporate donors and the media, as well as current trends in the non-commercial sector. A talk show with Aleksey Kortnev and Sergey Belogolovtsev also took place at the conference.

135 representatives from charitable foundations and NGOs, and 60 representatives from companies from 50 cities in Russia took part in the first ‘DOBRO’ conference.
