Donors’ Forum takes place on 15 October

Registration opens for the 16th Annual Conference of the Donors’ Forum

10.10.2018

The 16th Annual Conference of the Donors’ Forum will take place on 25 October.  The theme of the conference will be ‘Charity is about more than money: the non-financial resources of philanthropy’.  It will bring together some of the most influential figures in the charity sector, from Russia and abroad, both donors and beneficiaries.

The conference will be addressing a number of important questions.  How do alliances and partnerships expand opportunities and create synergies for an organisation? How can trust be a substitute for funds? How is the brand of charitable projects developed and controlled? What possibilities exist for corporations to get involved in voluntary work?  How does enthusiasm descend into compassion fatigue? What is the impact of IT and Big Data on charity work?

The conference will include six formal sessions, several panel discussions and many other opportunities for sharing ideas and networking that show that charity work is about much more than just fundraising.

Alexandra Boldyreva, Executive Director of the Forum of Donors, believes that the most important aspect of charity work, over and above money are the people involved, the opportunities and relationships they develop – not something that can be simply bought.  Boldyreva stated that the conference will hold discussions on the basis for social capital, on the ways that charities can manage their reputations and use the time, energy and skills they have at their disposal as well as the contributions that people make that have no traditional monetary value.

Speaking at the conference will be several highly respected figures from the charity world, including Cathie Karrigan, Deputy Director of the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy (USA), Emilia Karalt, Director of the Real Dreams Foundation (Spain), Cyril Herring, a specialist in organisational development (Switzerland), Pascal Schneider, Head of Brand Development and Communications for Deloitte (Germany), Anke Petch, Director of International Relations for the Association of German Foundations (Germany), Lyudmila Andrievskaya, Research Director of CSR Matters (USA), Maria Chertok, Director of the CAF Foundation, and Dmitri Polikanov, President of the Unity Foundation.
