20.10.2022
The Bill passed its first reading in the State Duma on Wednesday, with amendments being made to the Federation’s Administrative Offences and Criminal Codes.
Fines ranging from 2,000 to 1,000,000 roubles can be imposed for violations of the foreign agents law. Serious breaches incur criminal responsibility which carries a prison sentence of up to two years.
The legislative texts were tabled in the State Duma in September by the Chamber’s Commission for Investigating Foreign Interference in Russia’s Internal Affairs. During the summer, Vladimir Putin signed the “Control of Activities of Persons Working as Foreign Agents” law.
