According to Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister, 270 million soms have been set aside for this purpose.

The Kyrgyz authorities plan to provide orphans with a lump-sum payment of 500,000 soms. Akylbek Zhaparov, Kyrgyzstan’s Prime Minister, said that young people who have grown up in orphanages will receive the money when they reach 18 years of age. There are currently 1,868 orphans in the country.

Zhaparov said there have been cases where orphans growing up not only lacked proper care and support but also ended up breaking the law. However, with the republic’s economy becoming stronger, the Government is now able to pay more attention to the needs of the most vulnerable groups in society.
