Registration for new categories of city residents is to open from 28 December.

The Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, has announced that Covid-19 vaccination centres will continue to operate over the New Year holiday.

Those working in housing services, public catering, sports and law enforcement agencies including the police, the Prosecutor’s Office and the courts will be able to sign up to receive the vaccination. Other groups eligible for the vaccine are doctors, teachers, journalists, cultural, industrial and transport workers, together with those employed in retail and service industries.

“Volunteers and staff of not-for-profit and religious organisations will also be eligible for the vaccination. These bodies have a lot of contact with people over Christmas and the New Year so it would be good if they could receive the vaccine in advance”, said Sobyanin.

The programme is being carried out using the Sputnik V vaccine which has been developed by the Gamaleya Research Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology.
