Russia to create a register of citizens in need

Tatyana Golikova, Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, has said that the register will make it possible to “accurately identify citizens in need” and ascertain whether this data matches information held by Rosstat.

According to TASS, the register will be created this year and is expected to be introduced from the start of 2024. Speaking at an extended meeting of the Russian Ministry of Labour, Tatyana Golikova described this as a “very important challenge”.

“This is a difficult task. We have already had to delay implementation of this initiative because we were not properly prepared at the time and needed to create other institutions in order to make the register work”, said Golikova.
